The house Risca Grande has the award for Best Organic Olive Oil of the World - 2010
The company is run by the Swiss families Bernhard and Zehnder, who bought the 92-hectare property in 2000 and began with its management in 2002. From the beginning, the goal was to cultivate the olives according to organic standards, for which the conditions in this region Alentejo are optimal.
In order to process the olives into high-quality extra virgin olive oil, we carried out building operations in 2003. A spacious building was build in which among others, the facilities for the modern processing plant, the storage and the bottling of the oil are located.
In 2005, new olive trees were planted.
In 2007 Andreas Bernhard, Alfred Zehnder and Ralph Mäder founded the company RISCA GRANDE Lda. (Ltd).
In 2008, the entire property was converted to biodynamic farming.
In 2009 the farm "RISCA GRANDE" obtained full DEMETER status.
To ensure the highest quality product, the processes of RISCA GRANDE standards are certified by the BRC-GSFS since December 2009.
