Q:Would you please introduce yourself simply? What attracts you to be a bartender? How long have you been a bartender?
R: I am Roy Zhou. I was born in Quanzhou, the city famous for tea and grew up in Xiamen, which is near the sea. That’s why I am so spiritual, hahaa...Well, I engaged in foreign trade still now. As for cocktail, I like it because of the influence of some foreign guests and then I owned my cocktail bar - Old Fashioned Bar. some bartenders often ask me how to make a good cocktail and create your own style. Personally, the most important thing is to drink more and know the right taste by your tongue. Hence I made up my mind to know more about cocktail deeply so I insisted on it so far for 2 years.
Q: Why did you choose 2015 HOSFAIR Cocktail Master Cup and How did your DIY cocktail be born?
HOSFAIR Cocktail Master Cup was my first competition since I have became a bartender. I read the competition news through Public media and found that judges of the competition were famous in the industry. Besides, I have lots of friends in Guangzhou and I have been a long time without seeing them. so I took part in the competition. As for my cocktail, it was a birthday cocktail that specially made for my wife. I love my wife, Gin and we all love Japan culture. So, I added the sakura Syrup. Rose Syrup stands for love. I use lime juice for the balance of sweet, vermouth blanco to strengthen middle taste, Gin and bitter to enhance the end of taste and decorated by rose.
Q: Do you often make some creative cocktail by yourself? Could you recommend a kind of cocktail which is suitable for single people like me?
R: Yeah...I usually make the cocktail with my own idea. For single people, it is better to drink hot cocktail when you enjoy the sea scenery in Xiamen in Winter. Here show you the cocktail - Single people in Xiamen, which has the flavor of the sea breeze:

Q: How do you think about the significance for bartender of competition and what did you gain from this competition?
R: Actually, the greatest help for bartenders is Improvisation and emergency response in the competition. The guest is always changing and the biggest test of competition is how you can show your usual working fun perfectly in such situation. The biggest harvest for me wasn’t the prize but gaving me confidence to continue to move forward on my own way. At that time, I also met lots of bartenders from Guangzhou through this competition and the most happy thing is to share and drink together.
Q: Will you participate in 2016 HOSFAIR cocktail master cup this year? Are there any concern and hope to the competition?
R: Yes, I will attend. You know it was my first competition since I was a bartender, so I would like to join again. This Year, I hope I can do it better show more my own creative artwork to everyone. Meanwhile, I wish HOSFAIR Master Cup will become better and more professional.
