Crude Palm Oil (CPO) is obtained from the pericarp of palm fruit. Crude Palm Oil is Orange liquid or semi-solid at room temperature, melting to clear red orange liquid on slightly heating.

Crude Palm oil is a rich source of pro-vitamin A in the form of carotenoilds this is about 15 times more than that present in carrots. Refined Red Palm Oil is used for the treatment and prevention of vitamin A deficiency. Palm Oil is also rich in vitamin E is free of cholesterol.
