Artichoke is used for various medical application and to produce tea.
Primary uses Indigestion – globe artichoke can aid digestion and reduce the symptoms of indigestion, including nausea and vomiting.
High cholesterol – globe artichoke has been shown to reduce cholesterol levels. The active constituent ‘cynarin’ is considered to be responsible for reducing high cholesterol.
Constipation – traditionally globe artichoke was enjoyed over the dinner table. It was also regarded as an ‘aperient’ – a mild laxative.
