White Mountain Foods tamales come in three varieties: Traditional Style, Sweet Potato-Pecan and Chipotle-Mushroom.
The Traditional Style variety is traditionally flavored, and looks and tastes like a traditional pork tamale. Completely vegan, its filling is based on wheat gluten, surrounded with a traditionally spiced yellow corn masa shell.
Our Sweet Potato-Pecan and Chipotle-Mushroom tamales are also vegetarian and vegan. Sweet Potato-Pecan tamales, based on a traditional recipe, are very popular especially around the Thanksgiving and Christmas season. Slightly sweet and nutty tasting, reminiscent of pumpkin or sweet potato pie these tamales are truly unique.
Our Chipotle-Mushroom tamales are not for the faint at heart. Very spicy, these tamales can be a religious experience for the true "hot tamale" aficionado.
